Importance of breaks for busy leaders

Regular rest

Make it a point to rest regularly if you want to stay productive at whatever time and task you have to undertake. Although it may seem counterintuitive, taking scheduled breaks helps improve concentration and productivity.

When you take time to rest and recharge, you are able to return to your tasks with a renewed mind and a renewed focus in many cases, allowing you to approach challenges with greater clarity and efficiency, or to find the solution to a problem that was obfuscated before you took a break, and whose solution becomes clear when you return to the problem after a time of distraction.

In addition to improving cognitive performance, breaks are also important for one’s overall well-being and mental health. Accumulated stress and fatigue can negatively affect decision-making, creativity and the ability to effectively manage difficult situations. Taking time to unwind and relax helps reduce stress and promotes a healthy work-life balance, which in turn contributes to greater job satisfaction and more consistent long-term performance.
